Jaguar launches XE and XF sedans with new age Ingenium engine

Jaguar Land Rover India has launched the Jaguar XE and XF in India with the all-new Ingenium series of engines. The 2.0-litre all-aluminium engine is offered in two outputs – 197 Bhp and 247 Bhp. The lower 197 Bhp engine will be offered with the lower variants of the XE and the higher powered engine will be offered with the top-of-the-line XE and all the variants of the XF. The XE has a starting price of Rs. 35.99 lakh while the XF is priced from Rs. 49.8 lakh.

Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said,

“The Jaguar XE and XF have done tremendously well in India and with the entry of the refined and efficient Ingenium petrol powertrain on our award-winning sedans, we expect more customers to enjoy the thrilling drive experience these two cars offer.”

Both the vehicles, XE and XF get an 8-speed Electronic Automatic Transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift and all Surface Progress Control. The launch of the petrol engine comes at a point when the market is preferring petrol powered cars in India. Manufacturers like Audi have already announced that every car in their portfolio will get a petrol engine powered model too. The lower difference between the fuel price has triggered the shift. JLR already offered petrol variants of the XE and XF in India but now the engines are even more efficient and powerful.

The Ingenium series of engines have been developed wholly by Jaguar Land Rover. The new engines are very advanced and use hydraulic valvetrain and feature an integrated exhaust manifold too. As per JLR, the new series of Ingenium engines can deliver up to 25 percent more power while consuming 15 percent lower fuel than the engines that it replaced. The same engines are also offered in many other JLR vehicles in India.
