Honda has just added a new variant to the WR-V hatchback based crossover. Called the Edge edition, the new variant of the WR-V is based on the mid S trim. It gets new features and is being projected by Honda as a value for money offering, for those who find the top-end variant too expensive and the S variant too under-speced.
Available with petrol and diesel engines, the WR-V Edge edition starts from Rs. 8.01 lakhs for the petrol version and Rs. 9.01 lakhs for the diesel model. Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi figures. These prices make it about Rs. 20,000 pricier than equivalent S variants.
Talking of the changes that the WR-V Edge edition gets, there are new alloy wheels on the outside as the major highlight. Other than this, buyers can opt for a premium white paint finish for the WR-V, but need to pay an additional Rs. 4,000 for that.
The interiors of the vehicle gain rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera display integrated into the inner rear-view mirror (IRVM). The infotainment system on the car gets Honda’s proprietary connect app. That’s pretty much what there is to know about the changes on Edge edition of the WR-V.
The WR-V’s petrol engine is a 1.2 liter, naturally aspirated petrol unit with 87 Bhp of peak power and 110 Nm of peak torque. A 5 speed manual gearbox is standard and although this engine does get a CVT automatic option on the Amaze and Jazz, Honda will not offer this feature on the WR-V.
Coming to the diesel engine, it’s a turbocharged, 4 cylinder 1.5 liter unit with all-aluminium construction. The engine produces 98.6 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. A 6 speed manual gearbox is standard. The WR-V benefits from high ground clearance and butch looks but does not have a four wheel drive mode, even as an option.
