The Renault Kaptur has been unveiled for the Russian market. It is based on the smaller Captur crossover sold in the European markets but has been designed keeping in mind the needs of the Russian car market.

Renault has confirmed that this is a car for emerging markets. It will first be sold in Russia before launched for markets like India, Indonesia and China. By the look of things it is expected to slot in above the Duster crossover.

The car is 4.3-meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.6-meters. Given its Russian origins it has been given a ground clearance of 204mm and approach and departure angles of 20 and 31 degrees respectively.

It has embodied the French automaker’s crossover design philosophy. This includes cues like the big Renault badge in front, high ground clearance, forward leaning stance and softly flared wheel arches.

The cabin is quite similar to what we have seen in the India-spec Duster. Standard features on the top-spec model include climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and shift on the fly All-wheel-drive system.

There is no word on the engine lineup or underpinnings but we expect that Renault has used the latter from the Duster . The engine line up too is expected to be similar to what is offered with the Duster.
