Tata Sierra 1.5 Hyperion Top Speed Evaluation: Exceeds 200 Kmph – Video

Tata Motors has achieved a remarkable milestone with its latest Hyperion 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which has been launched in the higher-end variants of the newly designed Tata Sierra. During a high-speed assessment at the NATRAX testing facility in Indore, the Sierra fitted with this engine reached an astonishing top speed of 222 km/h. This achievement not only establishes it as the fastest Sierra ever produced but also ranks it among the swiftest SUVs in its category, highlighting Tata’s renewed commitment to performance and engineering excellence.

The Hyperion 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine is exclusively paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and is offered solely on the Adventure+, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ variants of the new Tata Sierra. The starting price for this powertrain is Rs 17.99 lakh, ex-showroom.

Discussing the specifics of the Tata Sierra, it features a boxy design that draws inspiration from its predecessor while incorporating various elements to provide a modern aesthetic. Initially, the SUV presents an upright profile with extensive use of gloss-black panels, which unites the LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs) alongside the brand’s emblem and the “Sierra” inscription. This design is further enhanced by the inclusion of a skid plate and two fog lamps that are seamlessly integrated into the bumper.

Inside, the Tata Sierra showcases a luxurious cabin, accentuated by three dashboard displays—one dedicated to the driver and two for infotainment purposes, allowing for effortless content sharing. It retains the four-spoke steering wheel from the Tata Curvv, which features an illuminated Tata logo and touch-sensitive controls, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, a segment-first SonicShaft soundbar, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof (the largest in India), a wireless charging pad, rear sunshades, and ventilated, powered front seats, among other features. To further enhance comfort, the Sierra includes soft-touch materials throughout the interior and a floating armrest, contributing to a contemporary and upscale ambiance.

Regarding safety, the Tata Sierra’s Level 2 ADAS suite includes an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, dual blind spot detectors, ESP featuring 21 functions, among other elements. Additionally, it is equipped with standard safety features such as 6 airbags, seatbelt anchor pre-tensioners, Isofix tethers for child safety, and 3-point ELR seat belts for all passengers, along with other enhancements.

The Tata Sierra has been introduced in India with a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the Sierra SUV will open on 16th December 2025, with deliveries set to begin on 15th January 2026.
