More powerful BMW i8 facelift due in 2017

After being in the market for more than three years, sources now suggest that the upgraded BMW i8 will debut in the international arena sometime in 2017.

Reports reveal that the power of the new car will be bumped up by 15bhp, which means that it will make a total of 372bhp. Expect the increase in performance to allow it to better the current 0-100kmph run (accomplished in 4.4sec) by a slight margin.

With the increased power from the petrol-electric hybrid system, you’d be surprised to know that BMW is actually working towards extending the range of the new i8! This will be possible with the help of a reworked battery pack that could take inputs from the Formula E safety vehicle (i8) which uses a 10kWh (regular car uses 7.1kWh battery). There’s also a possibility that the new i8 will get a few chassis tweaks, like modified upper wishbones, mounting points, and altered dampers and springs.

BMW is known to also be working on getting the i8 Spyder
