It was reported at the launch of the Geely-owned Lynk&Co car brand that the newly found car manufacturer will roll out an SUV and a sedan in its initial years. The first SUV was unveiled globally in October last year, called the 01, and now the sedan has been spotted testing in China for the first time.
The new sedan is codenamed CS11 (the 01 SUV was codenamed CX11) and will share the new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform with the 01 SUV. The test mule was heavily camouflaged, but the front seems to have taken the cues from the 01 SUV. The gaping grille running all across the fascia and high-mounted headlamps appear to have been carried forward, while the rear has the boxy effect from old Volvo sedans. The interior shots indicate that the sedan will have the same cabin and dashboard as the 01 SUV.
Powering the new sedan will be a Volvo-derived 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine with about 180bhp, and a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit with 240bhp. The sedan could also get a plug-in hybrid powertrain with around 220hp. The car will boast of all the “connected” features showcased at the launch of the 01.
The car is expected to be launched in China sometime next year, by the time the Lynk&Co could expect to make grounds in the European and U.S. markets as well. After the SUV and the sedan, the new Chinese carmaker will be working on two more cars which could most probably be a hatchback and a crossover with codenames CH11 and CC11 respectively, both based on the very CMA underpinnings.
