Some schools in Chennai declared a holiday on Monday without citing any reason after Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health condition deteriorated. However, most of the schools and colleges were open on the day.

Principal Secretary of School Education D Sabitha and Director of School Education S Kannappan also said that Monday would be a regular working day.
