These 9 Cars Unveiled at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Show Are Incredible (And Will Likely Never Make it to the U.S.)

The Tokyo Motor Show is always surprising. This is in part because it is the host to a panoply of innovative production and conceptual vehicles from regional automakers. But it’s also because so many of the cars and trucks and alternative mobility devices unveiled there never make it out of the Japanese domestic market (JDM.) This is due to a variety of factors, including protectionist legislation and things like tax codes on engine and vehicle size that are specific to Japan. But that doesn’t mean the offerings on view in Tokyo are any less compelling. In fact, to folks in the Western Hemisphere who pine for forbidden fruit, it only makes these sleek vehicles all the more alluring. We visited Tokyo this week to check out all of the intriguing offerings, so we could compile a list (presented in alphabetical order) of the ones we fawned over most.
